Re-Boot

tumblr_mo1qqvVAHj1s5g6goo1_400.jpgSo here I am on the hottest day of the year in Bridgewater hiding out in the air conditioned comfort of my bedroom, with the dog.    For some reason I have it my head that I need to blog.  The last date on this particular blog is 2013, it was supposed to be a way to market jewelry.  Surprisingly or not, handmade jewelry sales are not a quick route to wealth in any sense of the word and the blog was useless in that endeavor.  Plus I became stressed about maintaining a blog solely for marketing purposes.

I am inspired by Slim Paley, a blog started by a woman who turned 50 and started a lifestyle brand.  I have no aspirations about launching a lifestyle brand, but I do like to write on occasion, and I also like taking photos.  My goal is to post once a month or so, with photos (my own or others that I am drawn to--my Pinterest activity may be many posts), and maybe write about why the photos move me in some way.  This is more of a journal or diary, and very personal to me.

This is my cool photo of the month, taken the last time I was up in Vermont w/the husband.

We visit the Lake Mansfield Trout Club with my parents when we visit in the summer.  This photo was taken on a cloudy day, love the reflection in the lake.  Also the atmosphere.   My camera rocks too, but that a blog post for a different day.

Kim's Stash 10/16/13

Inspiration today comes from Autumn in New England.  Have had the opportunity to travel in the past few weeks--sort of an empty nest tour of Maine and Vermont.  Have seen lots of striking foliage:  the colors, lighting,  the crisp air makes fall one my favorite times of the year.

Lake Mansfield in Vermont

The seashore in Ogunquit, Maine

The Town River, about 100 yards away from my house --
a good spot for walking the dog.

We road tripped to Ogunquit,  on the coast of Maine last weekend. The shore, the rocks and waves, the salt air is so lovely.  I look forward to visiting every year.   I do some window shopping when we travel.  It’s fun to see what’s trendy,  especially for accessories, and jewelry.  I usually end up making something with fall colors in it, then it ends up being my favorite accessory for many weeks.

Let me know if you're inspired by autumn too.  A bracelet or necklace can be helpful to celebrate the season!

Kim's Stash

How do people start blogs?  I subscribe to a few, but I've never actually seen one launched.  I guess straightforward is probably best:

I am a designer:  professionally I am an office designer, but on the side I make things to wear -- mostly jewelry and knitted items.  I have been making jewelry for thirty-five years, knitted things for slightly less than that.  I have made countless beaded and knitted items for relatives and close friends.  I also have a website for my jewelry: www.ksjewelry.sbabo.com.

So what's the photo all about and what's the purpose of this blog?  The photo is a picture of my personal stash of beaded items. On any given day, I'm usually wearing something from the stash. The blog is a showcase for my work.   I can post more photos and write more about the process that goes into making a bracelet or necklace, than would be possible on the website -www.ksjewelry.sbabo.com.

The blog may not be all jewelry all of the time...knitted stuff may show up.  Maybe pictures of the family too, or travel photos or links to other sites --pretty much anything that inspires me.

I am hoping to sell some jewelry too: www.ksjewelry.sbabo.com.

Alright then, I've started a blog. Thanks for reading, hope to see you back here soon.
